Carpet stretching is also a multifaceted carpet solution. As we explain on our home page, either carpet patching or stretching is performed on most repairs. Whenever a carpet needs to be put back in place, besides a minor adjustment, stretching is involved.

As much as stretching is involved in majority of all carpet repairs, it’s main use is to eliminate looseness from an area of installed carpet. Keep in mind, this does not include glued-down installed carpet looseness. Other repair methods are used when glued-down carpet becomes loose. Here’s a classic example of carpet that is just loose enough to create actual wrinkles in the floor.

In before picture, you see how carpet is loose enough to allow actual formation of wrinkles. This is when you don’t want to delay stretching. It’s best that stretching is done when you notice looseness, prior to any lumps and bumps developing. Once something like a wrinkle forms, your carpet is subject to permanent damage. The longer your carpet isn’t flat, the stronger your chances of permanent damage. Simply, damage occurs because every time you walk on, or vacuum an area that isn’t flat, you apply pressure to backing of carpet in a way it wasn’t built to sustain. Luckily, if you get your carpets stretched soon enough, as these folks did, you see your room ends up looking great again.

This picture also shows a classic example of how your room does not have to be empty to stretch it. We did not disassemble, and then reassemble this person’s pool table. Nor did we remove it from room, at all. We moved it as necessary, to complete the job properly. If we encounter something that is not movable, like an 800 lb king-sized bed frame we can not get sliders under, we will stretch away from it. Usually, we do move what we can out of room, so we request you move any small things out of our way, if possible. If you know we are going to be stretching certain areas for you, removing anything small and light is preparation you could do to help save yourself money, and ensure we focus on what you need us for.

Here is just another good example of how carpet stretching really makes a difference. Again, we were called in soon enough, so there are no permanent crease marks left in carpet after completing stretch. At a certain point in time, no matter how tight we get a carpet, some crease marks will never come out. A cleaning sometimes helps diminish appearance of permanent damage caused by carpet being in wrong place for too long, but sometimes there is just nothing we can do.
